Baby Point

Baby Point is one of those west-end neighbourhoods that feels tucked away from the rest of the city, and that’s a big part of its charm. Once you pass through the iconic stone gates, you’ll find winding streets, mature trees, beautiful homes and incredible access to the Humber River and surrounding ravines. It feels peaceful and private, but Bloor West Village, The Junction and Old Mill are all just minutes away.

The homes are definitely part of what makes Baby Point special. You’ll find beautiful Tudor, Georgian and English Cottage-style houses, many dating back to the 1920s and 1930s, along with renovated character homes and newer custom builds. Long before the neighbourhood we know today was developed, this area was home to Teiaiagon, a Haudenosaunee village overlooking the Humber River and the historic Toronto Carrying Place Trail. Baby Point was later developed as a garden suburb, which helps explain the winding roads, generous yards and beautiful tree canopy you still see today.

Having the Humber River so close is a huge part of life here. Étienne Brûlé Park and Magwood Park give residents easy access to trails for walking, running, cycling or taking the dog out. You can spend an afternoon exploring along the river and almost forget you’re in Toronto.

Another thing that makes Baby Point a little different is the Baby Point Club. The private neighbourhood club has been part of the community for generations, with tennis, lawn bowling and social activities that add to the close-knit feel of the area.

For families, there are several schools in and around the neighbourhood, including Humbercrest Public School, Warren Park Junior Public School and Runnymede Collegiate Institute, along with Catholic and private options nearby. As with any Toronto neighbourhood, the exact school catchment will depend on the individual address.

There are plenty of places nearby when you want to head out for coffee, dinner or shopping. The shops and restaurants around Jane and Annette are close to home, while Bloor West Village and The Junction give you even more independent cafés, bakeries, restaurants and local businesses to explore.

Getting around is convenient too. Jane and Old Mill subway stations are nearby, depending on where you live, and there are TTC routes throughout the surrounding area. For drivers, the neighbourhood has fairly easy access to the Gardiner and major routes into and out of the city.

What really stays with you about Baby Point is how peaceful it feels. You can walk along the Humber in the morning, grab coffee or dinner in Bloor West Village and then come home to a quiet street surrounded by mature trees and beautiful homes.

There aren’t many places in Toronto where you get this combination of history, architecture, ravines, river trails and such an established residential feel. Baby Point feels tucked away without actually being far from everything, and that’s what makes it such a special little pocket of the west end.
