Uptown Toronto

Uptown Toronto is one of those areas where you really get a little bit of everything. You have busy stretches of Yonge Street filled with restaurants, cafés and shops, but just a few streets away you’ll find beautiful homes, mature trees, parks and quieter residential pockets. It gives you the convenience of city living without necessarily feeling like you’re right downtown.

One of the things I like about Uptown is the variety. You’ll find everything from older detached and semi-detached homes to renovated family properties, townhomes, apartments and modern condos. There’s a nice mix of longtime residents, families, professionals and downsizers, which gives the area a really established but active feel.

For families, there are plenty of schools throughout Uptown and the surrounding Midtown neighbourhoods, along with public, Catholic and private options. There are also lots of parks, playgrounds, community centres and recreation facilities nearby, making it an easy area for families to settle into.

The outdoor space is definitely one of the biggest perks of living here. Eglinton Park has sports fields, playgrounds and lots of green space, while the North Toronto Memorial Community Recreation Centre offers swimming, skating and recreation programs throughout the year. You’re also close to the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail, which is great for walking, running, cycling or taking the dog out.

Head a little farther north and you have Sherwood Park and the Blythwood Ravine, with beautiful wooded trails that can make you forget you’re in the middle of Toronto.

Yonge Street is really the centre of everyday life here. There are restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, grocery stores, fitness studios and local businesses all along the way, with even more happening around Yonge and Eglinton. Mount Pleasant Road and Avenue Road give you more neighbourhood shops and restaurants depending on where you live.

Getting around is easy too. Line 1 runs right through the area, making it simple to get downtown, and there are plenty of TTC routes connecting you east and west. It’s also a very walkable part of Midtown, so depending on where you live, you can get through a lot of your day without needing the car.

But what really makes Uptown stand out is the balance. You can grab coffee on Yonge, walk the Beltline, meet friends for dinner and hop on the subway downtown, but still come home to a quieter residential street.



You’re close to Lawrence Park, Lytton Park, Davisville Village, Chaplin Estates and Forest Hill, with plenty happening around you when you want it. At the same time, there are parks, trails and quieter pockets that give the area a real neighbourhood feel.
