Kennedy Park and  Eglinton East

Kennedy Park and Eglinton East are two east-end Scarborough neighbourhoods that offer a great mix of convenience, community and green space. They’re well connected to the rest of Toronto, with easy access to the TTC and GO Transit, while still having quiet residential streets, parks and plenty of everyday amenities close to home.

One of the things I love about this area is the mix of homes. You’ll find everything from classic brick bungalows and detached homes to semi-detached houses, townhomes and condos. Many of the older homes sit on good-sized lots with mature trees, and there’s a nice mix of longtime residents, young families and first-time buyers throughout the neighbourhood.

For families, there are several schools in and around the area, including Kennedy Public School, Walter Perry Junior Public School, General Brock Public School and W.A. Porter Collegiate Institute. There are also a number of Catholic school options nearby. With parks, playgrounds and recreation facilities close by, there are lots of opportunities for families to get outside and stay active.

One of the biggest perks of living here is the access to green space. Kennedy Park has sports fields, playgrounds and open areas for local residents, while Knob Hill Park and Scarborough Village Park are also nearby. You’re not far from the Scarborough Bluffs either, so heading down to the lake for a walk or spending a summer afternoon by the water is easy.

There are plenty of everyday amenities around the neighbourhood too. Eglinton Square Shopping Centre is nearby for groceries, shops and services, while the businesses along Eglinton Avenue East, Kennedy Road and Danforth Road offer plenty of options for restaurants, cafés and errands. Scarborough Town Centre is also just a short drive or TTC trip away when you need a little more shopping.

Getting around is one of the biggest advantages of this area. Kennedy Station is a major TTC and GO Transit hub, making it easy to get downtown or connect to other parts of the GTA. There are also numerous bus routes throughout the neighbourhood, and major roads including Eglinton Avenue East, Kennedy Road and Danforth Road make driving around Scarborough fairly convenient.

The area is also close to some great local recreation spots. Scarborough Village Recreation Centre offers programs and activities for residents, while nearby parks provide plenty of space for sports, walking and playing. The Eglinton GO Station is also nearby and is another option for commuters.

You’re also not far from some of Scarborough’s best-known attractions. The Scarborough Bluffs, Bluffer’s Park and Lake Ontario are all within a short drive, while Rosetta McClain Gardens and Guild Park and Gardens are also easy to get to when you want to explore more of the east end.

But what really makes Kennedy Park and Eglinton East stand out is the community. These are established neighbourhoods where people have lived for years, and there’s a comfortable, down-to-earth feeling throughout the area. It’s diverse, family-friendly and practical, with most of the things you need close to home.

You’re close to transit, shopping, schools, parks and the lake, with downtown Toronto still easily accessible.
