Bloordale Village

Bloordale Village is one of those west-end neighbourhoods that has changed a lot over the years but has managed to hold onto its personality. Centred along Bloor Street West between Dufferin and Lansdowne, it’s colourful, creative and full of independent businesses, with quieter residential streets tucked just behind all the activity.

The homes here have a lot of character. You’ll find Victorian and Edwardian houses, detached and semi-detached homes, traditional Toronto row houses and plenty of century properties that have been renovated over the years. There are also duplexes, apartments, townhomes and newer condos, giving the neighbourhood a really interesting mix of housing and residents.

Bloor Street is definitely where much of the neighbourhood’s energy comes from. Independent coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, vintage shops, galleries and small businesses line the street, and there’s always somewhere new to discover. It’s the kind of neighbourhood where grabbing a coffee, picking up dinner or meeting friends for a drink can usually be done without getting in the car.

For families, there are several schools in and around the neighbourhood, including Pauline Junior Public School, Brock Public School and Bloor Collegiate Institute, along with Catholic and alternative school options nearby. Dufferin Grove Park is also close by and is one of the west end’s favourite community parks, with a playground, sports facilities, skating in the winter and plenty of green space.

Another great feature of this part of the city is the West Toronto Railpath. It’s popular with walkers, runners and cyclists and gives you a great way to get outside and travel through the west end away from busy streets. You’re also not far from Earlscourt Park and plenty of smaller neighbourhood parks and playgrounds.

Bloordale is in a great spot for exploring the rest of the west end too. Bloorcourt is right next door, with Brockton Village, Wallace-Emerson, The Junction and Roncesvalles all within easy reach. Dufferin Mall is nearby for everyday shopping, while the surrounding neighbourhoods give you even more restaurants, cafés and local businesses to explore.

Getting around is one of Bloordale’s biggest advantages. Dufferin and Lansdowne Stations are both on Line 2, making it easy to get downtown or across the city. Dundas West Station and the UP Express are also nearby, giving you another convenient connection to downtown and Pearson Airport.

What really gives Bloordale its character is the mix of people and businesses that call it home. You’ll see longtime residents alongside younger families, artists and professionals, and there’s a real appreciation for independent businesses and everything local.
