Crescent Town

Crescent Town is one of those east-end neighbourhoods that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. Tucked just north of Danforth Avenue, it’s a convenient, established community with lots of green space, easy transit and plenty of everyday amenities close by. It’s also a neighbourhood where you can get a little more space for your money while still being well connected to the rest of Toronto.

One of the things that makes Crescent Town interesting is the mix of housing. The neighbourhood is known for its mid-rise and high-rise apartment buildings, along with townhomes and a mix of other residential options nearby. There’s a strong sense of community here, with many longtime residents and families who have called Crescent Town home for years.

For families, there are several schools in and around the neighbourhood, including Secord Elementary School, Crescent Town Elementary School and  Malvern Collegiate Institute is also nearby for secondary students, along with Catholic school options in the surrounding area.

One of the biggest perks of living here is the amount of green space. Taylor Creek Park is right nearby and is one of the best places in the area to get outside. The trails are great for walking, running and biking, and they connect into the larger network of ravine trails throughout Toronto. Stan Wadlow Park is also close by, with sports fields, playgrounds and plenty of open space.

You’re also just a short trip from Woodbine Beach and the Beaches, which is a pretty great bonus. In the summer, it’s easy to head down to the lake for a walk, spend an afternoon at the beach or grab something to eat along Queen Street East.

Everyday conveniences are another reason people like Crescent Town. Shoppers World has grocery stores, shops and services right in the neighbourhood, while the nearby Danforth offers even more restaurants, cafés, bakeries and local businesses.

Getting around is one of the biggest advantages of living here. Victoria Park Station is right nearby, making it easy to get downtown or across the city without needing a car. There are also several TTC bus routes in the area, and the Danforth and Danforth Avenue provide easy connections to the rest of Toronto.

The neighbourhood is also close to some great local recreation spots. Taylor Creek Community Centre offers programs and activities for local residents, and the nearby parks provide plenty of space for kids and families to get outside. There’s also easy access to the East York Civic Centre and other community facilities.

What really makes Crescent Town stand out, though, is its location. You’re close to the subway, the Danforth, Taylor Creek, the Beaches and Lake Ontario, while still having a quieter residential setting to come home to. It’s a practical neighbourhood that gives you access to a lot of what people love about the east end.

For first-time buyers, families and anyone looking for an affordable option with great transit and lots of amenities nearby, Crescent Town is definitely worth checking out. It may not have the big detached homes and postcard streets of some of Toronto’s other neighbourhoods, but it has convenience, community and a location that’s hard to beat.
