Mount Dennis is one of those west-end neighbourhoods that has a lot more going for it than people sometimes realize. You have established residential streets, good-sized lots, parks and Humber River trails, along with one of the west end’s most important transit hubs. For buyers looking for more space while staying in Toronto, it’s an area that can be well worth exploring.

The homes here offer quite a bit of variety. You’ll find detached and semi-detached houses, post-war bungalows, older character homes, townhouses and some newer development. Mount Dennis also has an interesting history. The neighbourhood grew around the former Kodak Canada property, which was once one of the area’s largest employers. Today, part of that former industrial site has been transformed into the Mount Dennis transit hub, giving an important piece of the neighbourhood’s history a completely new role.

For families, there are several schools in and around the area, including Mount Dennis Junior Public School, Cordella Junior Public School and Weston Collegiate Institute, along with Catholic school options nearby. The neighbourhood also has community centres, playgrounds and plenty of recreation within easy reach.

The amount of green space is one of Mount Dennis’s biggest advantages. The Humber River and its trail system are close by, giving walkers, runners and cyclists kilometres of paths to explore. Eglinton Flats is another huge local feature, with sports fields, picnic areas, trails and lots of open space along the Humber.

For everyday errands, Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West have grocery stores, restaurants, cafés and local businesses, while nearby Weston gives you even more options. The Weston Farmers’ Market is a longtime local favourite and a great place to shop for produce and local food during market season.

Transit has become a major part of the Mount Dennis story. Mount Dennis Station is the western terminus of Line 5 Eglinton and connects with buses and GO Transit, while nearby Weston Station provides GO and UP Express service. That gives residents several options for travelling downtown, across the city or to Pearson Airport.

From a real estate perspective, Mount Dennis can be particularly interesting for buyers who want to stay in Toronto but are finding themselves priced out of other west-end neighbourhoods.
