Leaside

Leaside is one of those Toronto neighbourhoods that really does feel like a community. There are beautiful tree-lined streets, great family homes, parks and schools, but you’re also close to Bayview Avenue, shops, restaurants and everything you need day to day. It has a quieter, established feel while still being incredibly convenient for getting around the city.

One of the things I love about Leaside is the homes. You’ll find classic red-brick detached and semi-detached houses, bungalows and traditional two-storey homes, many sitting on beautiful lots with mature trees and gardens. A lot of the original homes have been renovated or expanded over the years, while others have been replaced with newer custom builds. There’s a really nice mix of old and new without losing the character that makes Leaside feel like Leaside.

For families, schools are a big part of the neighbourhood, with Bessborough Drive Elementary and Middle School, Northlea Elementary and Middle School, Rolph Road Elementary School and Leaside High School all serving the community depending on the address. There are also Catholic and private school options nearby.

The outdoor space is definitely one of the biggest perks of living here. Trace Manes Park is a favourite with local families, with tennis courts, a playground, baseball and plenty of space to get outside. The Leaside Public Library is right beside it, making this little pocket of the neighbourhood a real community gathering place. Leaside Memorial Community Gardens is another neighbourhood institution, with hockey, skating, swimming and curling throughout the year. Then you have Serena Gundy Park and the Don Valley trail system nearby, which are great for walking, running, cycling or taking the dog out.

There are lots of everyday amenities close to home too. Bayview Avenue is really the heart of the neighbourhood, with independent cafés, bakeries, restaurants, specialty food shops and local businesses. It’s one of those streets where you start to recognize familiar faces and develop your favourite places pretty quickly. Laird Drive and Leaside Village offer even more shopping, groceries and everyday conveniences.

Getting around has become easier too, with TTC service throughout the area and Line 5 providing another east-west transit option along Eglinton. The Don Valley Parkway is also nearby for drivers, and downtown is relatively easy to reach.

But what really makes Leaside stand out is the community itself. It’s the kind of neighbourhood where kids walk to school, families meet at the arena or baseball diamond, people are out walking their dogs and Saturday morning on Bayview can easily become part of your weekly routine.



You have great schools, parks, shopping, restaurants and transit nearby, but you still get that comfortable residential feel. It’s an established neighbourhood where people really do put down roots, and it’s easy to understand why so many families who move to Leaside end up staying for years.
