Courtice

Courtice is one of those communities where you can have a little more space, plenty of parks and trails, and still be close to everything you need. It’s a popular choice for families and commuters who want a quieter suburban feel without being too far from Oshawa, Bowmanville or Toronto.

A big part of what people like about Courtice is the amount of green space. Tooley County Park, Courtice Lions Park, White Cliffe Park and the trails around Robinson Creek give residents plenty of places to get outside, walk the dog, take the kids to the park or just enjoy some fresh air. Darlington Provincial Park is also just a short drive away, with beaches, hiking trails, picnic areas and camping along Lake Ontario.

Courtice has grown quite a bit over the years, especially with all of the newer subdivisions, but it still has that comfortable neighbourhood feel. You’ll see kids riding their bikes, families out walking and neighbours getting to know each other. There are community events throughout the year, along with sports programs, local activities and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

For families, there are lots of schools throughout the community, including Courtice Secondary School, Dr. Emily Stowe Public School, Courtice North Public School, Longworth Public School and St. Mother Teresa Catholic School. The area also has Courtice Community Complex, which offers skating, sports, recreation programs and a great place for families to spend time.

Day-to-day errands are easy in Courtice, with plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops and other services close to home. Courtice Commons is one of the main shopping areas, while nearby Oshawa and Bowmanville give you even more options when you’re looking for shopping, restaurants, entertainment or other amenities.

There are also some great local spots to check out. Coffin Creek Coffee Co. is a popular place to grab a coffee, while Dosa Eatery is a local favourite for Indian food. And if you’re looking for something to do outside the neighbourhood, you’re not far from Darlington Provincial Park, Bowmanville Harbour, Oshawa’s Lakeview Park and the many attractions throughout Durham Region.

When it comes to homes, Courtice is largely made up of detached houses, semi-detached homes and townhomes, with many newer communities offering spacious family-friendly layouts. You’ll find everything from first-time buyer-friendly townhomes to larger homes with garages, finished basements and plenty of room for growing families.

Another big draw is the location, especially for commuters. Highway 401 is easily accessible, and you’re just a short drive from Oshawa and Bowmanville. But there’s also some exciting transit news for Courtice. Metrolinx is currently extending the Lakeshore East GO line from Oshawa to Bowmanville, with a future GO station planned in Courtice near Courtice Road. The Bowmanville Extension is now under construction and will add nearly 19 kilometres of new track, bringing GO train service farther east into Durham Region. Once complete, the extension is planned to provide more frequent service, including half-hourly peak-direction trains and hourly off-peak service.



Courtice may not have a historic downtown or a waterfront right outside your door, but that’s not really what people come here for. It’s about having a comfortable home, good schools, parks nearby, plenty of everyday conveniences and a community where you can settle in and feel at home.
